Concrete Bags

Fabriform Concrete Bags are large cast-in-place concrete bags, similar to the Storm Mats. The Concrete Bag sizes vary and are fabricated specifically for each project. They are traditionally used to protect against scour at bridge piers and wing walls.

Storm Mat

Developed to protect against typhoons in S.E. Asia, Storm Mats are employed in lieu of armor stones. They vary in size and are very similar to Concrete Bags. The Storm Mat has more of a true “block” shape, verses the tubular shape of the Concrete Bag. The most common is the 16” (thick) Storm Mat. Storm Mats can be installed individually or the blocks can be assembled into monolithic mats.

Storm Mats are used where severe scouring may occur or where increased toe protection is needed. Due to their block shape, the Storm Mats resist rolling better than Grout Bags and can be easily stacked on one another.

Some areas of installation for Storm Mats & Concrete Bags are: toe protections along rivers and bridge piers, protection at cruise terminals, sub-aqueous pipeline outfalls, groins and breakwaters.

Storm Mats and Concrete Bags provide superior scour protection with significantly reduced labor and equipment requirements.
